This year's Mayor's conference will begin with a special activity at the historic "Peace Island" focused on FoEME's work to rehabilitate the Lower Jordan River; a transboundary challenge shared by the Mayors and residents of ten of our Good Water Neighbors communities.
Events will begin on November 4th, at 12:00 on the Peace Island with participants continuing on in the afternoon to Amman, Jordan through November 6th.
Keynote speaker, Maude Barlow, Senior Advisor on Water to the President of the UN General Assembly, will join us to share her knowledge on world wide water issues and reflect on the GWN model's ability to mitigate resource driven conflict and foster peace. In addition, high-level Jordanian / Israeli / Palestinian Ministers will be selected as Champions of the Jordan River, agreeing to advance efforts to rehabilitate the Lower Jordan River in their respective governments.
Subsequently all participants will break into small groups to preview short FoEME video clips focused on several of our Good Water Neighbors communities and invited to discuss their experiences as participants in this unique project.
More information will be posted as the date approaches.
