Dear Friends of EcoPeace/FoEME,
We have a great opportunity to win matching grants of up to $50,000 to help us save the Jordan River and stabilize the Dead Sea. But we need YOUR help!
We have been selected to participate in a contest for the world’s leading social entrepreneurs, sponsored by the Skoll Foundation, Huffington Post and CrowdRise.com….if we raise the most money on CrowdRise.com between Sept. 30 and Nov. 22, we get $50,000 for the Jordan River!! Only 57 other NGOs are competing.
What we need is for you to become a team member on our www.CrowdRise.com/ecopeace contest page - and/or encourage your network of colleagues to become team members – and pledge to do something “interesting” to help us and the Jordan river. Then you ask your social network to help you reach your fundraising goal.
Remember – 10 years ago people laughed at us when we said we wanted to rehabilitate the Lower Jordan River. Yet, this past May, for the first time in 49 years, fresh water from the Sea of Galilee is being allowed to naturally flow into the River on a regular basis! So, this is a chance to promise something extraordinary as well! Spend a day cleaning your local stream if friends support you, or lose 10 lbs., or finish a triathlon, or climb Mt. Fuji or whatever…
…or simply make a contribution to the CrowdRise.com/EcoPeace page before Nov. 22! [End of year is soon – we are U.S. tax-deductible!]
…AND WE OFFER PRIZES!
Raise $3,000 and we will give you a free weekend stay for two at our Sherhabil Bin Hassneh or Auja EcoParks, meals included!
Get your church, mosque, or synagogue involved and get a full day free tour of the Jordan River the next time your community visits the region: bus, guide, visit to Alumot dam, the Jordan River Peace Park or Gesher, Auja EcoPark, lunch, and either a Dead Sea overlook or Kasr al Yehud baptism site---includes all!! A community needs to raise $5,000 by Nov. 22 on our CrowdRise page to help save the Jordan River and they get a one busload tour (offer good thru 2015)—lowers costs and thus helps your community recruit participants.
AND BONUS: We will also provide our pre-trip faith education resource toolkit about the the Jordan River. Great for interfaith study groups also!!
….AND WE HELP YOU!
Throughout the contest, we will post blogs on Huffington Post that you can forward to all your contacts and ask for their support. We will also sponsor an event or two that will give you other interesting tidbits to post and reasons to contact folks and ask for their help in meeting your goal.
This is such a great opportunity to leverage our small individual contributions for a major prize that will go a very long way towards helping us save the River Jordan and revive the Dead Sea. Click here to join the team now!
Thank you!!!!
