The Red Sea-Dead SeaCanal: FoEME has succeeded in placing the rehabilitation of the River Jordan as the means to save the Dead Sea on the political agenda of key international and regional decision makers. To date, FoEME's efforts have primarily focused on the World Bank's failure to incorporate alternative solutions to revitalize the Dead Sea, including allowing water to flow in the Jordan River. However, due to Shimon Peres' recent proposal to begin construction of the mega-project without undertaking a professional impact study to examine the repercussions of the Canal's construction, FoEME will now be allocating greater resources to draw attention to the unsustainable consequences of the Peres initiative. To read press coverage from Ha'aretz, The Jerusalem Post and The Sunday Times please visit: https://www.foeme.org/www/?module=projects&record_id=106.
