FoEME is deeply saddened by the escalation of violence in Gaza and Southern Israel.We join other peacemaking organizations in calling for an immediate cessation of violence and renew our ongoing commitment for cross border dialogue as a means for creating a just and viable Israeli-Palestinian peace.Despite the added challenges posed to our staff and our mission, FoEME's tri-lateral efforts continue to promote cooperative efforts to protect our shared environment.
FoEME is pleased to announce the addition of four new Jordanian communities to the Good Water Neighbors' project this month including Hima, Sharhabil Bin Hassneh, South Shuneh and Fifa – all located in the Jordan RiverValley.With this addition, FoEME is now active on the ground in eight Jordanian communities.In each of the new communities field staff have been hired, youth and adult groups formed and activities initiated.
The Good Water Neighbors' program in all eight Jordanian communities is supported by US Agency for International Development, Amman.
This month FoEME released its new easy-to-use climate change resource guide entitled Climate Change: Policy Notebook for Decision Makers.The guide is designed primarily for decision makers and the media, containing information on climate change, scientific information, impacts, the UN process, other initiatives and models from around the world and actions taken to date.The first edition of the resource guide, geared towards an Israeli audience was released in Hebrew with the Arabic version aimed at Palestinian and Jordanian beneficiaries to be subsequently released. This monththePUSH Project released its pilot site manuals designed to help site managers and other stakeholders put shared heritage into action on the ground in the six PUSH pilot site communities of Beit Shean, Sebastia, Pella, Irtas, Gesher and Bakoura by offering innovative visitor interpretation techniques and ideas relevant to each site.These manuals (with an accompanying CDROM) and all the PUSH project's publications are available to the public on the PUSH website at www.pushproject.org.

FoEME was invited to participate in the Civil Society meeting preceding the prestigious Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Conference held in Jordan.The Conference, which brings together water ministers from throughout the Euro-Med region, convenes annually to discuss water management regional issues.This year the meeting focused on formulating and adopting guidelines for a long term strategy for water around the Mediterranean.The Conference recognized the important role of Civil Society organizations in this field by inviting input into the guidelines from leading organizations including FoEME.Furthermore, FoEME was invited to present on the state of the Lower Jordan River during one of two side events, the other side event related to the Red Sea- Dead Sea project as presented by the World Bank, prior to the Ministerial Conference.For more information on FoEME's efforts to rehabilitate the Lower Jordan River click here.For recent media coverage from the Telegraph, Israel21c and NRG.co.il (Hebrew) click here.
